TRADITIONAL WELSH BASKET, THE CYNTELL
The cyntell is a frame basket formed around a thick, dried willow or hazel hoop, with split and shaped willow ribs which is then woven with willow. The basket was made by farmers and used as a multi functional basket used around the farm to carry anything from harvest crops to washing and even babies. This two day course will
teach you all the skills needed to make these beautiful
baskets and you will also learn all about the history from
one of the legendary Cyntell maker's, Les Llewelyn who
has now retired from teaching but is passionate about
keeping the skills for the making of the Cyntell alive.
